I was one of Bill Zemlin's students so I saw first hand his almost insane dedication to the fine points of anatomy and the functions that drive speech and hearing anatomy. His was the birth of A & P textbooks. Others certainly copied from his expert studies of the anatomy. I accompanied him to cadaver lab, so I saw closely the excitement that he brought to the work. He was the most dedicated to the task that I have seen. Zemlin had other loves, but this was his life's work. He set a high standard. Now, many years have passed, and though his textbook is as accurate as ever, it lacks the contemporary knowledge regarding genetics and the brain. If you are willing to supplement this great book with contemporary reading in those areas, you will be well served.
The book was in great condition. I ended up not even needing it for my class. It is old, but anatomy does not change. When I did use it (the one or two times) it had exactly what I needed. Honestly it does seem very useful, but my teacher really provided us with everything we needed to know. So money lost for me.It was delivered on time, and exactly how seller stated it would be.
The Zemlin text is THE definitive SHS Anatomy & Physiology text, widely used across the country by the highest ranking SHS/SLP programs. If you're in a program that does not use this text, buy it for yourself as a supplementary reference. You will use it for the rest of your academic & professional careers.The workbook/study guide available separately is not only a nice companion study tool, but it is also full of fantastic, highly detailed diagrams and drawings.
This book was required reading in my graduate program and I am thrilled that it was! I have worked in both acute care as well as school settings and have found this book to be extremely helpful from both ends of the spectrum. An absolutely fantastic desk reference, especially in the acute care setting!
I love this book. The way it's written makes it easy to understand (well, not easy). The diagrams are great. The glossary is helpful. Overall, I think it is a great textbook and one that I will refer back to often.
