This book is what it advertises itself as: a primer. The basic concepts of oil well drilling are presented in a non-technical but comprehensive fashion. I recommend this quick read for anyone who needs a background in oil well drilling.

This is an elementary introduction to drilling. It avoids detail but provides a good first step without intimidating the reader. It breaks down the components of a rig and the various services that go into construction of an oil or gas well.
